Classico by Sferra - Cal King Dust Ruffle 72x84x15 (White) Review

I copied a portion of my original review from Sferra's website here. I am not affiliated with Sferra or a paid reviewer. I'm just a lover of fine linen sheets.

These sheets are stunning in their simplicity and overall beauty and the quality of the Italian linen is simply wonderful. Having heard of, but never seen linen sheets, I had ordered Irish linen pillowcases to see how well I liked them, and to my surprise, I found the Irish linen to be somewhat heavy and best suited for the winter months. (Keep in mind though I didn't see a full set of sheets).

A few weeks later I was in a linen store and happened to come across Sferra Classico linen sheets and was impressed by their beauty. They are cooler to sleep on in the hot months than cotton, especially if you have a Tempurpedic mattress. I always iron my pillowcases and about a foot of my top sheet for a finished look. If you have deep pockets these are a great price at $350 for a King flat. (Sferra online price is now $585).

My second choice for quality linen sheets would be from Rough Linen online which is more affordable and very nice linen. About $160 for a King flat. She offers 3 different types of linen sheets and I have her "Smooth Linen". This linen comes from Europe and I highly recommend them.

Cuddledown has Italian linen sheets which are also very nice and more affordable, but they cannot compare to exquisite quality of Sferra's. These would be my third choice and only buy them when they are on sale.

Restoration Hardware has nice linen as well, although somewhat heavier and not as refined as what's listed above, more of a Shabby Chic look, and at a reasonable price. They state the linen comes from Belgium, but actually I was told the seeds come from Belgium and they are grown in China. Not that it makes much difference (to me anyway) because it's still Belgium linen seeds and I've seen the sheets and liked them anyway

Garnet Hill offers Eileen Fisher linen sheets which I ordered (I was seduced by the name of the color "Rosewater") and returned them immediately as they were far below the quality of the other linen listed here and were just as expensive. (King flat $165). The linen was a thin grade B linen from China with a fringe on the end. They have lots of glowing reviews and I can only think most of the reviewers don't know quality linen from ordinary linen. Their description of the linen is basically all smoke and mirrors because the quality is simply not worth the price.

If you're interested in buying linen and don't see the origin listed ALWAYS ask the origin of the linen. The best linen comes from Europe, stay away from India and China for the most part although there are exceptions to everything.
