"Unfortunately, the manufacturer felt it necessary to have these shipped from Malaysia in the cheapest cardboard known to man, with basically NO padding (there was a tad amount of styrofoam, VERY minimal). How they can justify the cost savings when $300+ furniture is getting ruined left and right, I have no idea. And for what, to save $.50 on cardboard? I received both the table and chairs damaged, thanks to this poor packaging, and with a little help from Fed-Ex Ground. BUT, Overstock's customer service was EXCELLENT at providing me with a replacement right away (another week to arrive). I have to admit that I thought it would be more difficult, but it wasn't. Thank God! When I did get the undamaged version of the table and chairs, they were of great quality. I am comparing to Ikea, etc. The screws, etc. fit exactly like they should and there wasn't any of that cheap Chinese factory machining where holes aren't there or things don't fit or screws are stripped, etc. Let me say that all of the negative parts of this experience were bourne of the maker and not of the seller. The maker needs to learn how to package their furniture like furniture.
A little tip for putting together the chairs-there is actually a left and right to the front legs, even though they look exactly the same. I was wondering for hours why the rails front to back would not fit (they have a slight angle because of the chair's design to get larger as it comes out). Then I accidentally picked them up the other way and suddenly, VOILA! The front railing for your feet should be lower than the side rails. OMG, I can't believe the maker couldn't put that in their directions."
