I ended up being totally out of luck buying this towel bar: stuck with a faulty product that I couldn't return. Be careful!

When I installed the towel bar on the shower, I noticed one of the retention plates didn't seem to cinch down well when I screwed in the retention bolt. I didn't turn it very hard, but it "gave" like the feeling you get when a screw's threads strip. I hoped for the best and just left it alone (my big mistake).

The bathroom where I installed the unit doesn't get much use: no one used it for a while. About 6 weeks later, my son told me that the towel bar had fallen off. When I tried to fix it, sure enough the retention threads on the plate were stripped and the unit would not stay up.

I tried to return the unit through Amazon and showerdoordirect, but I was out of the 30 day return window. So now I have no solution and I'm out my full purchase price. Not happy with the quality.
