Atlantic Furniture AP8121007 Concord Platform Bed Review

Bought this bed in twin. It came in multiple small boxes, rather than one heavy large box which made for easier unpacking. Had no difficulty assembling it in two hours with 2 female adults. Loved that all necessary tools were included in the hardware kit (except for a Philips screwdriver that is needed for the slats). I used an electric screwdriver to attach the slats which was helpful since there are no pre-made holes in the bed frame to screw the bed slats into).

The wood is of good quality with a nice smooth finish (it did have some production dust on it, so I suggest wiping the entire frame down with a soft damp cloth when assembling). One thing to note for those who are buying this bed because it is listed as eco-friendly: the bed frame is treated and has no odor to it upon assembly, which is ideal for those who may be chemically sensitive. But the wooden slat kit has slats that are made of RAW wood and they do have a smell of new lumber once you open that individual box. After assembling the bed and attaching the slats, you will smell the slats. I did the assembly on a very warm spring day and as the bedroom got warmer, the odor became more noticeable. I am "airing out" the slats for a few days before laying out the mattress.

A warning about the bed when assembled: the hook & pin assembly is clever, but if you need to slide the bed around the floor (perhaps to vacuum), if you grab the bed from one of the side frames and pull up to move it, the side rail "pin" could pop out of its' "hook" in the head or foot rail, so it is best to move the bed by grabbing either the head/foot rails or a the top of a leg, rather than the side rails.

All in all, the bed is sturdy, attractive, easy to assemble and a bargain for the price and I would recommend it. I rate it only 4 stars since only 8 screws were provided to attach 14 slats. They say to attach just the top, middle and bottom slat, on each side, using only 6 screws total (they give you 2 extra screws). All the slats are attached to each other, so maybe 6 screws IS enough for the entire slat kit, but without screwing in EACH slat, they do move around a little on the frame and I did not care for that design feature.
