Memory Foam Mattress (California King)

Dream-Matic Memory Foam Mattress, California King Review

Actual sizes on outside label:

*Twin (see note!): 38" x 80" x 8" (*this is longer than a normal twin which should be 75" long, so this is actually a Twin Extra Long meant for taller teens or adults)
Full: 53" x 75" x 8"
Queen: 60" x 80" x 8"
King: 76" x 80" x 8"
Calif. King: 72" x 84" x 8"

I ordered the twin size mattress on sale for $199 with free shipping. I received it in only 43 hrs! - delivered via Fed Ex in a box sized 17" x 17" x 40". However, the mattress is not a normal sized twin, but the extra long size commonly found in college dorms (luckily due to having had children in college, I happen to already own a few Twin XL sheet sets). Because of the extra long length, it is too long for the top of the trundle bed I meant it for, but will fit on the bottom only because that frame is not closed off at the head and foot. Even so, it barely will slide under the top bed and because of the heavy weight of this mattress, the bottom bed will no longer pop up. I think however that the top trundle frame could perhaps be stuffed with blankets or foam, filling it in to allow the mattress to lay across the top instead of inside the frame.

Because this will be a rarely used bed meant for guests, I have decided to keep the mattress, but have no clue how I would send it back anyway since the mattress arrives flattened and rolled up, puffing up to its full 8" depth within an hour after you unroll it with no way to ever flatten it again.

There is a slightly strong odor that doesn't bother me too much (smells like new foam rubber with a rubber backing, but some might be bothered by its petroleum odor. From researching online I found out the odor is normal and should wear off soon after airing out. I left the window of the room open overnight and now have removed the mattress cover (that comes with it) and am airing out those two parts outdoors directly under sunlight.

The cover zips off for washing and instructions are on the label. The bottom is tan colored and appears to be a soft rubber material even though its label says:

MADE IN CHINA
80% cotton
20% polyester
(I believe that label instead refers to the other part of the cover which is butter-colored crushed velour and VERY soft.

Another label on the cover says:

MADE IN CHINA
ALL NEW MATERIAL consisting of:
90% viscoelastic polyurethane foam
10% polyurethane foam
sold by Strong Ideas, North Hills, CA.

The outside label says the mattress was imported and consists of:

66% compressed roll packing
2.5" deluxe memory foam
5.5" high density foam to add support
hypoallergenic cover.
MADE IN CHINA

The light-yellow foam mattress itself is encased in a thin gauze see-through white cover so you can view the two or three layers of foam (a thin middle part is blue and I can't tell if it is separate or not). It is obvious which side goes "up" because only one side has the memory foam type of foam (which holds the shape of your hand for about 5 seconds).

As for comfort: It is exactly how I expected a memory foam mattress to feel - it is firm but creates a body imprint due to the mattress sinking in slightly where your body lies. Personally I like the lower back support and think it will be a good option when my back is sore. To me it feels very comfortable in all sleeping positions, but I have only lain on it for 10 minutes at a time so far. I almost fall asleep though each time I lie down on it.

One thing about about this type of mattress is that it does not require box springs - you could probably even use it directly on the floor and it would work the same.
