We bought 2 of these in the Sage Green color. It is a very dark sage. The material is like a faux suede leather. It is comfortable and feels nice, but we found it hot to sit on in the warmer weather so I bought some flat, sage green color, lightweight sateen king size sheets and put one on each chair. Queen size would probably fit, but we have cats and I wanted to deter them from finding new scratching posts! The sheets are easy to toss in the washer and alleviates cat fur, ice cream, crumbs, whatever from getting on the material and at the cost of each chair, I expect them to last a VERY long time.
The chairs were shipped from Cymax. Took about 10 days to receive them. They were brought into the house, unboxed and put in place by the drivers. Excellent service and no shipping damage whatsoever and these are big, boxed up chairs! The boxes are not one big square box, but are cut to match the shape of the chair so they look like a cardboard chair.
THE RECLINERS ARE ASSEMBLED - NO TRYING TO PUT ONE PIECE ON TOP OF ANOTHER!!! Those types of recliners eventually weaken and/or break down.
They weigh 135# each - wherever you decide to place them, you won't be sliding them around to vacuum!
My husband is 6'1" and thin - he loves the recliner! I am 5'9" and a plus size gal - I love the recliner. We both like the way our legs from the knees down fit onto the recliner. Neither of us are having the leg pains we experienced with the ones we have been using.
The chair is very comfortable. MADE IN THE USA! That's the main reason we decided to buy them. And it was a major decision considering the cost and the fact they can't be put in the back of a car to return! Both of us had been suffering from back issues/hip issues and leg issues in the chairs we had been using and they were good chairs and not inexpensive, but they just were not comfortable. I had purchased both from a major online shopping network so I was leery of purchasing online again because you can't sit in the chair to try it out before it is sitting at your door. I took a chance and am so glad I did. I did not find a recliner in any store as comfortable as the Catnapper.
We both find the chair easy to recline. Very smooth operation, BUT, because the chair is so large and the arms so padded, a slight person might have a problem reaching over and down to recline the chair or put it back into sitting position. We are both seniors and have no problem, but some people might.
The reclining lever appears to be plastic with a silicone type grip, but it feels sturdy. If you push down with your feet and lower legs as you bring the lever up the chair practically goes into the sitting position by itself.
The massage system is not a strong one as in a massage chair, but it is a good one. One star deducted, though, for the noise. It is loud and depending on what feature we use, it sounds like a roller coaster trying to get up the track......it's not a problem really - you will get used to it, but it could be quieter. There were no instructions on the use of the massager and it's features other than a card attached to the chair. For the price of the chair I would have liked a one page user explanation. I don't want to sit and figure out what happens with each button, especially when it comes to the heat feature. I've been meaning to call the company about that and will update when I do.
When you receive the chair and the driver's leave, you will realize there is no remote! Before they leave, have them tip the chair forward because the remote is taped to the underside of the chair and I do mean taped! Well taped - it won't be falling off during shipping!
We are pleased with both chairs and I do like the color. I was just tired of beige/tan.
We did get free shipping and considering the weight of the chairs, that's important!
UPDATE: 7/13/13 LAST WEEK ONE OF THE HANDLES BROKE SUCH AS OTHER REVIEWERS HAD HAPPEN TO THEM. I CONTACTED CYMAX AND EMAILED THEM PICTURES OF THE BREAK. THEY SAID THEY CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, JACKSONMFG, BUT NO RESPONSE FROM EITHER ONE SO I EMAILED JACKSON MFG'S CUSTOMER SERVICE AND NEVER GOT THE COURTESY OF A RESPONSE. TODAY I CONTACTED SEARS SINCE I PURCHASED BOTH CHAIRS THROUGH SEARS AND THEY WERE SHIPPED FROM CYMAX. SEARS IS CONTACTING BOTH CYMAX AND JACKSON MFG. ALL THIS FOR A BROKEN HANDLE ON A VERY EXPENSIVE RECLINER! So, for right now, as much as these chairs are comfortable, the customer service on replacement parts is abysmal.
I also asked Jackson Mfg about the massager and if there was more information on it other than the tag attached to the chair upon delivery. No response to that either.
Wow, you would think a company who touts being a USA manufacturer would care enough to follow up on customer service!
Would I buy these chairs again - probably not.........
